work with local communities to educate growers on better
environmental practices. The results are higher prices
paid to growers.
In Costa Rica, Coffee Association of Canada members
support programs that protect the environment and also
provide many communities with water recycling, ensuring
clean, safe drinking water.
In the Pijao region of Colombia, Coffee Association
of Canada members helped improve local water quality.
that meant better water for agriculture and a safer
water supply for the communities in the area.
In Mexico and numerous other countries, farmers are
given the educational, technical and financial support
necessary to:
- help them select varieties of coffee bean trees best
suited to local soil conditions
- help them prevent infections in the trees
- help them prevent soil erosion
- help them improve treatment techniques after the beans
have been harvested
